This stunning project at The Elms involved a full kitchen transformation paired with a rear extension to create a bright, open-plan living space tailored to modern family life.
The client’s vision was to create a seamless flow between the kitchen, dining, and outdoor areas—maximising natural light and modern functionality while retaining the property’s character.
As with many extension projects on older homes, space constraints and structural considerations were key challenges.
The existing kitchen was narrow and dark, and integrating a new open-plan layout meant removing load-bearing walls, reconfiguring internal plumbing, and ensuring compliance with modern building regulations. Access to the rear of the property was limited, making logistics and material handling more complex.
Our experienced team carefully planned and phased each stage of the project.
Structural steel supports were installed to open up the space safely, while underfloor heating, upgraded electrics, and smart lighting were added to bring comfort and efficiency. The new extension featured floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors and a large skylight, flooding the space with natural light and enhancing indoor-outdoor living. Bespoke cabinetry and high-spec finishes gave the kitchen a premium, modern feel.
